Art Direction
Below is a sample of work that I art directed for Discourse Blog and the Daily Dot, in some cases executing editorial and photo illustrations, and in others using my own photography from protests and interviews.
“You’ve Been Watching Army Propaganda This Entire Time”
Lead and in-line art that I designed and edited from screenshots of MTV’s The Challenge for a feature I wrote on military propaganda in reality television.
“Worst Politicians in America”
Lead art I designed by hand and photo illustrations of portraits for a Discourse Blog series on political corruption.
“Adjusting to America: What happened to the migrant girl whose cries shook the country”
Lead and in-line photography I shot for a feature I wrote on Alisson Ximena Valencia Madrid and her mother Cindy Alinette Madrid Henriquez, who went viral after being separated at the U.S.-Mexico border in 2018.
“Meet the undocumented students who are outspoken and unafraid of Trump’s DACA orders”
Lead and in-line photography I shot for a feature I wrote on undocumented students protesting President Donald Trump’s executive order rescinding the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program in 2017.
“Hundreds of LGBTQ advocates rally at hearing for Texas bathroom bill”
Lead and in-line photography I shot for a news article I wrote on Texans protesting bathroom bill SB6 in 2017.
